Electrical & Lighting

Modern vehicles run on a web of sensors, modules, and wiring - and when something goes sideways electrically, it can cause all kinds of weird symptoms. We've got the diagnostic tools and the patience to trace electrical gremlins to their source. From a dead battery to a full wiring harness repair, we'll sort it out methodically.

Warning Signs

Signs You Need Electrical

Don't ignore these - they usually mean it's time for electrical.

Battery Dies Repeatedly

If your battery keeps dying overnight or after sitting for a day or two, you likely have a parasitic draw - something is staying on when it shouldn't be. Could be a module that's not going to sleep, a stuck relay, or an aftermarket accessory wired wrong.

Flickering or Dim Lights

Headlights that dim at idle or flicker while driving usually point to a failing alternator or a bad ground connection. If your dash lights are acting erratic too, the charging system needs attention before you end up stranded.

Electrical Accessories Stop Working

Power windows, locks, or other accessories that quit can be a blown fuse, a bad switch, a wiring issue, or a failing body control module. We'll trace it with a wiring diagram and a multimeter - the right way.

Slow or No-Crank Starter

If your engine cranks slowly or you just hear a click, it could be the battery, starter motor, starter solenoid, or corroded cables. Minnesota winters are especially hard on starters and batteries - cold cranking amps matter up here.

Burning Smell from Electrical Components

A hot or burning plastic smell is a serious warning - it can mean a melting wire, an overloaded circuit, or a short. Don't ignore this. Electrical fires are real, and they can happen fast. Get it checked immediately.

Our Process

How Every Job Goes

No surprises. No hidden charges. Here's the playbook.

1

Inspect & Diagnose

Electrical issues require systematic testing. We use scan tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and wiring diagrams to trace problems to the source. We test circuits, check grounds, and verify signals - no guessing.

2

Explain & Quote

Electrical diagnosis can sometimes take a bit of time, but we'll keep you in the loop. Once we've found the problem, we'll explain what failed and what it takes to fix it. Honest estimates, no surprises.

3

Repair & Restore

We make proper repairs - soldered connections with heat shrink, correct gauge wire, proper fusing. No twist-and-tape hacks. If a wiring harness section needs replacing, we do it right so the problem stays fixed.

4

Verify & Test

After the repair, we verify the fix with the same diagnostic tools we used to find it. We load-test charging systems, verify parasitic draw is within spec, and make sure all related systems are working properly.

$120/hr

vs $145 local average - you save $25/hr

Lean operation. No showroom overhead. Same quality - you just don't pay for the fancy waiting room.

Electrical FAQs

Common Questions

Our diagnostic rate is $120/hr, and most electrical issues take 1-2 hours to properly diagnose. Some tricky intermittent problems can take longer. We'll give you a heads-up if we're going past the initial estimate so you can decide how to proceed.

It can be. The check engine light covers everything from emissions sensors to engine management. Many codes point to sensor failures or wiring issues. We'll scan it, interpret the data, and tell you whether it's a sensor, wiring, or mechanical issue.

Yep - light bars, LED headlight conversions, driving lights, interior lighting, you name it. We wire everything properly with relays and fuses so you don't end up with melted wires or a dead battery. Bring your own parts or let us source them.

Typically 3-5 years, and Minnesota winters tend to push you toward the lower end. Extreme cold is brutal on batteries. We can test your battery's cold cranking amps and internal resistance to tell you where it stands before winter hits.

Unfortunately, this is more common than you'd think - especially on vehicles that sit for a while. Mice and squirrels love chewing on soy-based wire insulation. We can repair the damaged sections properly and help you with prevention tips.
