Routine Maintenance

The best way to avoid big repair bills is to stay on top of the small stuff. Regular oil changes, fluid services, and inspections keep your vehicle running right and catch problems early. We follow manufacturer maintenance schedules - not made-up ones designed to sell services you don't need. Bring your daily driver in and we'll keep it healthy.

Warning Signs

Signs You Need Maintenance

Don't ignore these - they usually mean it's time for maintenance.

Oil Change Light or Maintenance Reminder

Modern vehicles track oil life and mileage intervals. When that light comes on, it's time. Running past the interval won't cause immediate damage, but consistently skipping changes leads to sludge buildup and accelerated engine wear.

Dark or Dirty Engine Oil

Pull your dipstick - if the oil is black and gritty instead of amber and translucent, it's overdue for a change. Oil breaks down over time and loses its ability to protect your engine. It's the cheapest insurance for your motor.

Coolant Level Dropping

If you're topping off coolant regularly, there's a leak somewhere - external (hose, radiator, water pump) or internal (head gasket). Either way, low coolant leads to overheating, and overheating kills engines fast.

Unusual Vibrations or Noise

New vibrations or sounds often mean something is wearing out - could be a wheel bearing, worn brake pads, tire imbalance, or a loose component. Regular inspections catch these before they become bigger problems.

It's Been Over 6 Months Since Your Last Service

Even if you don't drive a lot, fluids degrade over time, rubber components dry out, and small issues can develop into bigger ones. A twice-yearly check-up catches things early and keeps your vehicle road-worthy.

Know Your Vehicle

A little knowledge goes a long way toward keeping your car healthy.

Engine Oil Color Guide

Pull your dipstick and compare - oil color tells you a lot about engine health and whether you're due for a change.

New / Clear Amber

Fresh oil - just changed

Normal / Golden

Working as intended, still healthy

Due Soon / Dark Amber

Getting dirty - schedule a change

Overdue / Dark Brown

Losing protective properties

Critical / Black

Sludge risk - change immediately

Spark Plug Condition

The tip of your spark plug reveals what's happening inside the combustion chamber.

Normal

Tan/light brown - running clean

Carbon Fouled

Black soot - rich mixture or weak spark

Oil Fouled

Wet & dark - oil entering combustion chamber

Worn

Eroded gap - weak spark, misfires

How Every Job Goes

No surprises. No hidden charges. Here's the playbook.

1

Inspect & Assess

Every maintenance visit includes a multi-point inspection - we check fluid levels and condition, brake wear, tire condition, belts, hoses, lights, and anything else that's part of your vehicle's maintenance schedule.

2

Explain & Recommend

We'll tell you what's due now, what's coming up soon, and what looks good. No scare tactics, no unnecessary services. We reference your manufacturer's maintenance schedule and your actual driving conditions.

3

Service & Maintain

We perform the work using quality fluids and filters that meet or exceed your manufacturer's specifications. Proper drain intervals, correct fluid types, and torqued to spec - every time.

4

Verify & Document

We verify all fluid levels, reset maintenance reminders where applicable, and make sure everything is buttoned up. We document what was done so you have a service record for your vehicle.

Maintenance FAQs

Common Questions

Conventional oil changes start around $45-$65. Full synthetic runs $75-$110 depending on your vehicle's oil capacity and filter. Some European vehicles and trucks that take 8+ quarts will be on the higher end. Our labor rate is $120/hr, but oil changes are typically flat-rate priced.

Follow your manufacturer's recommendation - for most modern vehicles on synthetic oil, that's every 5,000-7,500 miles or once a year. If you do a lot of short trips, towing, or extreme temperature driving (hello, Minnesota), lean toward the shorter interval.

Absolutely - BYOP is always welcome here. Bring your preferred oil and filter, and we'll install them. Just make sure you've got the right weight and quantity for your vehicle. If you're not sure, we can look it up for you.

We check engine oil and fluids, brake pad thickness, tire tread depth and pressure, battery condition, belts and hoses, lights, wiper blades, and the undercarriage for leaks or damage. It's a quick but thorough look at your vehicle's overall health.

We follow the manufacturer's maintenance schedule - which is what the dealership should be following too. We won't upsell you on services your vehicle doesn't need. If it's in the owner's manual, it's legit. If it's not, we'll tell you.
